Mike Adenuga - $4.6 Billion

Nigerian Mike Adenuga's $4.6 billion makes him the fourth richest black person in the world. Adenuga became the first Nigerian to strike commercial quantities of oil after being granted lucrative government contracts from his best friend, the President of Nigeria. Today, his company Conoil produces 100,000 barrels per day. Adenuga also owns telecom company Globacom which has 25 million subscribers in four African countries.

Folorunsho Alakija - $7.3 Billion

A former secretary and clothing designer, Folorunsho Alakija invested her life savings in Nigerian oil prospecting rights. One of her territories ended up being one of the largest sources of oil in Africa.

Aliko Dangote - $25.9 Billion

Aliko Dangote is the richest black person in the world with a net worth of $25.9 billion. His company, the Dangote Group is the largest corporation in Nigeria with over 11,000 employees around West Africa. The Dangote group has a wide range of interests including sugar, cement, oil, real estate, telecom and more. So which black billionaire edged out Aliko this year?
