Abuja, Nigeria 07/23 - The US-based Leon H. Sullivan Foundation has donated medical equipment worth US$1 million to Nigeria to improve health care delivery in the country, the ministry of health said Thursday in a statement.
Foundation Chairman Hope Masters made the donation on the sidelines of the 7th Leon H. Sullivan Summit, which rounded off in Nigeria`s capital city of Abuja Thursday.
"The significance of the donation is reflected by its coinciding with efforts of the Obasanjo administration to refurbish and re- equip tertiary health institutions in the country toward the objective of improving the delivery of effective and efficient health care to the people," the statement said.
It disclosed that the equipment had been earmarked for the improvement of services at the Federal Medical Centre in Southwest Abeokuta.
