FG sacks aviation chiefs
Posted: Tue May 09, 2006 5:00 pmFOLLOWING a series of accidents in the aviation sector, the Federal Government has wielded the big stick.
Announcing the restructuring exercise yesterday, the Minister of Aviation, Dr. Babalola Borishade, said the Federal Government had given approval for the disengagement of some top management staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
As part of the restructuring, the minister said Alhaji Mohammed Yusuf (former Director of Administration and Supplies), had been appointed the chief executive officer of FAAN.
He replaced Engineer Olorunfemi Shittu, the former acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FAAN. Dr. Borishade also revealed that promotion exercise was now being conducted to elevate some serving officers in the various parastatals of the ministry.
