NFA - Minister Wants Nigerians Abroad to Apply for Jobs

Postby Richard Akindele » Fri Sep 22, 2006 10:18 pm

Sports Minister Bala Ka'oje has called on qualified Nigerians living abroad to feel free to apply for jobs at the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) even as he called on the FA board to advertise the vacancies in both local media and the web.

Ka'oje, who said he wanted only the best materials to work at the Glass House, also charged the Alhaji Sani Lulu-board to employ the services of a creditable consultant in order to ensure that only the best candidates are shortlisted for positions at the nation's foremost sports association.

Accordingly, the Sports Minister charged the board to work out the modalities for achieving this as soon as possible.

Ka'oje, in a press release signed by his Press Secretary, Charles Chikezie, stressed that he does not mind from where ever the candidates come from so long as they are the best the nation has to offer.

"I have no interest in whomever is appointed, all I want to see are credible candidates applying and been given the jobs."

The NFA has been looking for a Secretary General and other principal officers to man its Glass House since the upheaval engineered by Col. Musa Mohammed (rtd) in December 2004 saw substantive scribe Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi throwing in the towel.

Since then the position has been occupied by former golden Eaglets coach Fanny Amun, whose style has infuriated those working with him.

And only a few days ago Ka'oje was to cage him by removing the handling of the FA's finances from Amun to new chairman Lulu.

Incidentally, the new board had planned to deliberate on the scribe's position at their maiden meeting scheduled for next week.

This Day.
