UGANDA Cranes' 2008 Nations Cup qualifying opponents Nigeria have broken into the top ten of World FIFA rankings.

The Super Eagles rose two places to ninth at the expense of Spain and creating a significant gulf between them and their next Cup qualifying opponents Uganda.

Uganda, who face Nigeria on March 23 in Lagos next year, are presently level with Guatemala in the 102nd position.

The cup tie in Lagos will however be without either side's top marksman. Cranes's Geoffrey Massa and opposite number Yakubu Ayigbeni are suspended for the game.

Uganda are second in Group Three of the qualifying campaign with four points, two behind leaders Nigeria with six points.

Group winners qualify automatically for Ghana where they will be joined by the top three runners-up from the groups made up of four teams.

Niger rose from 149 to 148th while Lesotho sunk two places below to 160th place.

Nigeria consequently remains Africa's finest soccer nation, ahead of second placed Cameroon placed 11th in the rankings.
